We are delighted to announce that Wanswell now has its own defibrillator, newly installed in the freshly re-pained red telephone box. An AED - automated external defibrillator - is there to help anyone experiencing a cardiac arrest; it is easy to use in an emergency with automated instructions. June 2018: Vale of Berkeley Railway Trust
Councillors were invited to see how work is progressing with the Vale of Berkeley Railway; Berkeley Station is situated in Hamfallow parish. Many thanks to all for the warm welcome. The railway trust's aim as stated on their website is to: 'reopen the Sharpness branch line, in Gloucestershire, to passengers as a heritage railway tourist attraction, rebuilding some of the key structures that once adorned this historical joint GWR & LMS Severn & Wye Railway'. Work has recently started on the Oldminster Sidings.

November 2017: Berkeley Citizens Advice
Hamfallow Parish Council were pleased to welcome a Citizens Advice representative at the council meeting on 3 November, to explain more about the nature and breadth of the Citizen Advice's diverse work in this area. Based in Stroud, they run a weekly drop-in centre at Berkeley Town Hall for all local residents including Hamfallow, from 1-3pm on a Wednesday afternoon and there is also a phone line available from 10am-4pm Monday - Friday: 0808 8000510. The national Citizens Advice website can be found here.
October 2017: Severn Area Rescue Association - Sharpness Lifeboat Station
Following a contribution from Hamfallow Parish Council to the work of Severn Area Rescue Association, Councillor Heather Priestley (Chairman) and Councillor Liz Lane took up an invitation to visit Sharpness Lifeboat Station on Sunday 8 October and find out more about their important work. They received a very warm welcome, were shown around the station and facilities and watched two lifeboats being launched. They were also given the opportunity to experience the River Severn's rapidly changing waters and understand more of the nature of SARA's role, by being taken out on a training lifeboat for a trip towards the Severn Bridge, across to Lydney, up past the Purton Hulks and past both sides of the old Severn Railway Bridge.

Many thanks to the team at SARA, and especially Geoff and Alan. For more about their work, please see the following links:

November 2016: New benches
After many years of sterling service, Hamfallow Parish Council recently replaced the much used and loved benches at Berkeley Heath and Wanswell. We hope they will give the same kind of pleasure as their predecessors. A plaque is currently being prepared to replace the engraved dedication to Nurse Edwards on the Wanswell bench. Does anyone know anything about Nurse Edwards? We'd love to hear from you! Thank you. clerk@hamfallowpc.co.uk

Hamfallow Parish Council donated a Christmas tree to the residents of Hamfallow Court and to celebrate, a group of brass players from the area got together to play carols.  It was all very Christmassy and the evening was successfully topped off with delicious homemade sausage rolls and mince pies, all washed down with cups of tea and coffee.
